National Principals Month: Thank you, Principal Keegan!

Discovery Principal Kathy Keegan

We’re excited to highlight two student artists, Kailyn W. and Yasmeen H., who created beautiful portraits of Discovery Principal Kathy Keegan. Be sure to scroll down through the National Principals Month highlight, to hear who inspires Principal Keegan!

  • How many years have you spent working in education? 19
  • How many years have you been with the ISD?  13
  • What is one of your favorite memories from when you were in school as a student, and why?  My elementary school built a new gym. For its dedication ceremony they had a contest for students to design a flag for it and my flag design won!
  • If you could live in any fantasy world, what would it be?  I would live in Narnia because “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” was one of my favorite books.
  • Who inspires you, and why? Queen Elizabeth II because she was dedicated, poised, had wit, and class. One of my favorite quotes from the Queen is, “When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.”
  • What did you do for fun/to relax this summer? I spent a week in California with my college roommates relaxing, eating, hiking and laughing.
  • What’s your biggest hope for this school year?  My biggest hope for this year is that we will continue to get back to the normalcy of pre-COVID, while taking all the positives and new learnings from the past three years with us.

Thank you, Principal Keegan, for leading at Discovery!
