Art Lessons 2023-2024

Have you ever wondered what your student learns in the Art Classes that are taught at Discovery.  We ask you to pay for these classes at the beginning of the year.  Our local artist, Bethany White has put together this synopsis to share with you what she teaches the students.

"At Discovery, students learn about important art movements and concepts, as well as experience special art mediums. Classes try an array of projects: acrylic pours, flower pressing, watercolor pencils, fused glass, paper quilling, and 3D fabric bowls. They study artists such as Andy Warhol, Georgia O'Keefe, Jackson Pollock, Frida Kahlo, Rinske Douna, and Pablo Picasso.

Each grade level also is trained on a technical skill (ex: drawing from a low point of view, using negative space, shading techniques, portrait skills, and unique watercolor techniques).
