Principal Message: Why the Replacement Levies Matter at Discovery

2026 Renewal Levy Icon

Dear Discovery families,

At Discovery Elementary, levy funding directly supports the programs, people, and services our students rely on every day. Levy dollars help fund classroom teachers, instructional support staff, counselors, nurses, and custodial staff, allowing us to maintain learning environments that are safe, welcoming, and focused on student success.

Levy funding also supports student programs and opportunities, including academic supports, extracurricular activities, technology access, and special education services that are not fully funded by the state. Across the district, critical student services and more than 460 sports and activities are supported by local levy funding.

Districtwide, 405 staff positions are funded by local levy dollars. These include teachers and paraprofessionals, health, counseling and safety staff, custodians and maintenance staff, and additional student support positions.

If approved, the replacement levies would maintain the current total combined tax rate. If not renewed, difficult funding decisions would need to be made that could affect programs and services at our school. As of Thursday morning, 16.29% of registered voters in our district have returned their ballots, according to King County Elections.

Election Reminder:
February 10 is Special Election Day. To ensure your ballot is counted, please use a King County ballot drop box, especially during the final week.
