Discovery Green Team sign up!

 

Attention Parents and/or Guardians!!!

Do you have a 3^rd, 4^th, or 5^th grader that would like to help keep Discovery GREEN!

Beginning October 10, the Discovery Kids will once again be starting up our food waste recycling program called Green Team.  During the lunch period, all Discovery students will be encouraged to dispose of their food waste into specially marked containers.  This food waste will then be collected by an outside agency and converted to compost.  The Discovery Kids will be on hand to introduce this program and to answer any questions during the first few weeks.  There will also be signs placed near the bins to let students know which items go into which bin.

We would like to invite any interested 3^rd, 4^th or 5^th grade students to become a GREEN TEAM MEMBER!  This involves a commitment during the first month of the program for student volunteers to quickly eat their lunch, put on their Green Team apron, stand by the bins and remind their fellow students to put their lunch items into the proper containers. GREEN TEAM members must be able to work independently, stay on task, be role models for other students, and be responsible for their job in the lunchroom.  (Waste Watchers will be trained on October 6th from 2:55 to 3:10 in MPR, make ups will be arranged at another time. To join GREEN TEAM, print the attached application, then tear off, sign and return the lower portion of the application to the office by this Thursday, October 6^th.
