As we look forward to summer approaching, many preparations are already underway to set the stage for the 2025-2026 school year! Part of this work is related to our staffing as we see individuals retiring and moving from the Discovery community. With that in mind, I want to share with you the latest updates about our Discovery staffing changes for the year ahead.
Do you need food assistance for your kids during summer break? The Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank’s “Summer Lunch” program provides nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack options for children of families in the Issaquah School district or who live in zip codes 98027, 98029, 98059, 98074, and 98075.
If your student is still showing outstanding books on their account and you received another email from the automated library notification system over the weekend informing you of the remaining item, please contact our librarian, Mrs. Gage.
Please be sure to come look for any missing or lost items before the school year ends!
District
Looking for summer learning resources? The ISD website has a page dedicated to ideas for supporting elementary students' learning while they are away from school this summer.
As part of the district's upcoming Back-to-School Resource Fair in August, a clothing drive has been gathering donations of new and gently used items. This weekend the clothing drive received a tremendous number of donations, and additional help with sorting the clothes is needed.
In partnership with the Issaquah Police Department, our district is encouraging students and family members who ride electronic bikes (e-bikes) to do so safely. Here are some facts about e-bikes, electric dirt bikes, and tips to increase safety. Please note that helmets are required by city code no matter which type of e-bike the rider is using.
Last week we shared about a program offered by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services called SUN Bucks. It's a grocery benefits program to help families buy food during the summer when schools are closed. Families get $120 for each eligible school-age child. Children who get these benefits can still participate in other summer meal programs. Details enclosed.
Students in grades 6-12 enrolled in ISD Online Learning Summer School 2025 will need to keep their school district laptop with charger. Do not turn it in! Please make sure you also have "LockDown Browser" installed.
